Judging Fiction

This week I was honored to read the top fiction submissions to Mikrokosmos Literary Journal, a student-run publication at Wichita State University. My counterpart for poetry is renown poet A.E. Stallings, well known for her classical themes and formal poetry.

It wasn’t easy to choose the three best, but I did it. As a result, I have a new respect for those writers out there who’ve also served as judges for literary contests I’ve entered. The mantle of getting things right is heavy.
