Bio

Dawn Hogue is a poet and fiction writer from Wisconsin with 25 years of experience as a high school English teacher. She was also an online writing tutor for Johns Hopkins University’s Center for Talented youth, where she worked with young poets and fiction writers. As the principal and managing editor of Water’s Edge Press, a small, independent publisher, Hogue is dedicated to bringing the work of literary artists to readers everywhere. She is most well known for her AP English Crash Course books from REA.

Hogue is the author of two novels, A Hollow Bone and Summit Road. Her poetry has appeared in various literary publications including Stoneboat Literary Journal, Wisconsin People and Ideas, Inscape Magazine, Bramble, and Blue Heron Review. Hogue is the winner of the 2017 Hal Prize for Poetry; the winning poem “The Obligation” appeared in Peninsula Pulse. She has contributed to several poetry anthologies as well, including Through This Door and From Everywhere a Little: A Migration Anthology. Her collection of poems, Painting South Pier, was inspired by the four seasons at the South Pier District in Sheboygan, Wisconsin.
